American Red Cross and Memorial Health System Partner to Provide Life-Saving Blood Products for Cancer Patients

Memorial Health receives grant for cancer initiative, saving lives | News, Sports, Jobs

The American Red Cross’ Blood Saves Lives Fighting Cancer initiative has received a $3,000 grant from the Memorial Health Foundation. Sharon Kesselring, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Ohio River Valley, expressed excitement about the partnership with the Health System. The foundation’s board of trustees voted to award the grant due to the important role the American Red Cross plays in patient care within the Health System and in providing blood products for those fighting cancer in the region.

The grant will be used to support blood collection and processing for patients who need it, including those within Memorial Health System. Julie Dye and Jill Deming presented the grant on behalf of the foundation at Memorial Health System’s first blood drive of 2024.

The next Memorial Health Foundation grant cycle opens on July 1. More information can be found online at mhsystem.org/Foundation.
