Assessing the Success of the UK’s Science and Technology Framework: One Year In

Construction of Science and Technology Framework Delayed

One year since its inception, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology is conducting an assessment on the effectiveness of its plan to integrate research and development (R&D) practices across government. In March 2023, the department introduced the Science and Technology Framework as a vital step towards cementing the UK’s position as a science and technology leader.

The framework may not have garnered widespread attention, but it outlined a comprehensive strategy to incorporate science and innovation throughout various government sectors. With 10 areas of action identified, each department was tasked with specific responsibilities to contribute to this overarching goal.

The progress and impact of this initiative are currently being evaluated to determine its success in promoting R&D activities within government. Researchers and policy experts are closely monitoring the outcomes of this framework to assess its effectiveness in advancing scientific advancements and innovations across the UK.
