Bears Acquire Proven Weapon: Keenan Allen Joins Roster for 2023 Season

Ryan Poles deems Keenan Allen as “a flawless match”

Earlier this month, the Bears made a significant move by trading for receiver Keenan Allen, adding another weapon to their offense for the upcoming season with presumptive No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams. The team’s general manager, Ryan Poles, mentioned at the annual league meeting on Monday that the team’s personnel staff had been monitoring Allen as a potential cap casualty. When the opportunity arose and Allen became available, the Bears were prepared to seize it.

Poles expressed his belief that Allen is the perfect fit for the team, especially given his understanding of the NFL, timing, space, and ability to read defenses. This will greatly benefit a young quarterback as they move forward together in the upcoming season. With Allen joining receiver DJ Moore, tight ends Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett, and running back D’Andre Swift, Poles sees a balanced field with a lot of potential for dynamic and special plays.

Even though Allen only played 13 games last season, he achieved a career-high with 108 catches, 1,243 yards (the second most in his career), and seven touchdowns. Poles reflected on his time in K.C., watching Allen make impressive plays and stated that the tape of Allen’s recent performances surprised him with the high level at which he is still playing despite his age. With this addition to their roster, the Bears are set to have a powerful offense for years to come.
