Celebrating Women’s History Month at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center

As a Firearms Examiner at the center, Sara Rogers shared that her job involves analyzing ammunition components to determine if they were fired by a particular firearm. Despite not growing up around firearms and coming from a state with strict regulations on them, Rogers stated that she takes her job seriously and is not afraid to challenge stereotypes. She expressed her thoughts on the assumption that only men would typically be in a position like hers as a gun enthusiast, stating that it is important to recognize the diversity of individuals working in this field. With 34 female employees out of 43 at the center, Rogers believes that it is crucial to break down gender barriers and promote equal opportunities for all individuals interested in pursuing careers in this field.
