Huizhou Boeko Chooses Clariant and Lummus Technology for Cost-Effective Dehydrogenation of Isobutane

Contract for catalyst technology awarded to Clariant and Lummus

Huizhou Boeko Materials Co. Ltd. has chosen Clariant and Lummus Technology to supply their CATOFIN catalyst and process technology for the dehydrogenation of isobutane at a new plant in Huizhou City, China. This marks the first time Huizhou Boeko will use the CATOFIN technology at one of their sites. The scope of the project includes the technology license and basic engineering.

The CATOFIN process is highly efficient, utilizing fixed-bed reactors operating at optimal pressure and temperature for maximum catalytic dehydrogenation of isobutane. This results in high yields of isobutylene at low investment and operating costs. Jens Cuntze, Business President Catalysts and APAC at Clariant, expressed excitement about delivering their CATOFIN catalyst to this first Huizhou Boeko plant and anticipates a successful partnership.
