Maryland’s Outstanding STEM Teachers Earn Presidential Awards Recognition

Public School Teachers in the County Excel in Teaching Math and Science – Conduit Street

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has announced six finalists for the 2024 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6th grade. These outstanding teachers hail from the following county public schools: Washington County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools.

Dr. Carey M. Wright, Interim State Superintendent of Schools, expressed his gratitude to these exceptional educators saying, “I am honored to recognize Maryland’s six finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.” He further commended their passion for STEAM education and their commitment to excellence in teaching.

PAEMST is a prestigious award bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. The program recognizes educators who possess deep content knowledge of the subjects they teach as well as the ability to motivate and enable students to succeed in those areas.

State finalists represent the pinnacle of teaching excellence in Maryland’s counties and serve as a source of inspiration and motivation not only for students but also for fellow teachers.
