NBA Investigating Suspicious Betting Activities Involving Jontay Porter of Toronto Raptors

The NBA is currently investigating potential betting irregularities related to Jontay Porter, a player for the Toronto Raptors. Porter has been absent from the team’s last two games due to personal reasons, and his representatives have not responded to requests for comment.

According to reports, there were two games in which DraftKings Sportsbook flagged prop bets involving Porter in their daily betting insights. On January 26th, users betting the under on Porter’s three-pointers were the biggest moneymakers for NBA player prop betting. On March 20th, Porter prop bettors were also the biggest winners for that day’s NBA betting. In both instances, Porter exited the game early.

It is worth noting that Porter only played four minutes on January 26th and did not attempt a three-pointer before leaving the game due to a reaggravation of a previous eye injury. On March 20th, he played only three minutes and scored zero points before leaving the game due to illness. Despite this information, it is unclear what specific details led DraftKings Sportsbook to flag these bets as suspicious.

A spokesperson from DraftKings declined to comment on the situation but emphasized that legal and regulated sports betting helps identify and report suspicious activity in order to protect the integrity of sports. This is not possible in illegal markets where such activities may go unnoticed and unchecked.

The NBA will continue its investigation into these potential anomalies while also working with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that any illegal or suspicious activity is detected and addressed promptly.
