Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Star in Upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson is being considered to star in Universal’s upcoming Jurassic World film, which is set for release on July 2, 2025. The movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, and production is moving at a rapid pace. This would mark a return to the world of franchises for Scarlett Johansson, who previously starred as Black Widow in Marvel Studios films. Despite her success in the superhero genre, she has also received critical acclaim with Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit.

The new Jurassic World film is part of the 30-year-old franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993. The franchise has since spawned several sequels such as The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001), before being revived by Jurassic World in 2015. The success of Jurassic World led to additional sequels like Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022), with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard leading the most recent trilogy of films. Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow oversaw these films, and Scarlett Johansson’s potential involvement in the new movie adds to the star-studded cast of the franchise.
